BRANCHETT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AT GRÜNWALD
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
July 26, 2085
I have been thorough in documenting Unidentified Patient #307’s refusal to continue with our sessions. The condition he set was vague; I was to research the history of Grünwald from when it was its own town, prior to its incorporation into greater San Antonio. He wanted to be able to have an “informed conversation” with me on the topic.
In the interest of incentivizing him to resume speaking with me, rather than commuting straight home from the hospital as usual, I lingered in the district yesterday evening. I had little information to go on aside from a name Patient 307 gave me during our last session: “Ethan Clegg.”
Historical Grünwald is a pleasant place. Its main street and a few of its buildings have been preserved as culturally relevant, but I have heard rumblings that the city has plans to revoke that status and reclaim the land to develop commercial real estate. These old buildings may not be standing for much longer. That may explain 307’s urgency on this matter.
I soon found the Clegg Family Public Library, not far from the hospital. The librarian was kind enough to help me search the entire catalog. The name “Clegg” alone returned too many results to investigate in a timely manner.
Searching for “Ethan Clegg,” however, returned only one result—a memoir.
I printed two copies. I am placing one in Patient 307’s chart for reference purposes. I will keep the other to read on my own time.
